MARCH 2016 — Having had several inquires, CLIFTON LABS is no longer open. Jack became sick in December and was forced to close. A loss to the community for sure.

Welcome to WG2XKA, a FCC Part 5 experimental station. The goal of this site is to introduce newcomers to Medium Frequency (sub 500 kHz) communications. Hopefully by the time you read this, the FCC will have opened the newest ham band, a sweet seven kilohertz chunk below the AM broadcast band, from 472-479 kHz! I couldn’t wait, so I applied for and was granted a FCC Part 5 experimental license, allowing transmissions on specific modes between 460-490 kHz.
These pages describe my efforts in creating a MF station, category by category. I’ll attempt to keep all content updated as things change. Almost all my gear is pure homebrew, based on a wealth of good (and bad) information lurking around the web. I’ll share what worked for me…and what didn’t.
I’m going to continuously keep the LINKS page updated – spend some time checking out what others have done down here where the action is!
So cruise around and keep me posted. WG2XKA at gmail dot com
